Hello Melynda,
This year, Hmong Student Union at UCD will be holding our annual High School Conference in the Spring around March/April. During the High School Conference, students from central and northern California come to our campus, and HSU sets an environment aimed to encourage and inspire students to pursue higher education through empowering activities, workshops, entertainment, speakers, and more.
In the Spring, we also hold a three-day event called College Experience Days where high school students get the chance to come to UCD and experience UCD life by shadowing college student hosts. They room and board with their host and join them in classes.
Please look forward to more information and applications for these events. Thank you for your interest. And feel free to ask us any more questions/queries you have.

Hello HSU! You guys are awesome! I want to give a shout out to Zoua Yang and Laura Vu for facilitating workshops at C.K. McClatchy High School last year. We are going to have our 6th Annual Hmong Conference at our campus on March 30. Are there any HSU members available to help out? March 30th will be a holiday for UC campuses. I have also sent emails out to the cabinet concerning this conference a few weeks ago. McClatchy would love to have some from HSU to be a part of this wonderful event. Please let me know ASAP if anyone can help facilitate again this year.
Thank You,
Johnny Vue

May I just say I really love how you people are doing these scholarships however, don’t you think it is difficult for students send in their transcript on a different day then just sending it in with the scholarship? In addition, what if student just recently found out about the scholarship but they have spring break and there is no way they can get a letter of recommendation, so they cannot meet up with the deadline?

We decided to set the deadline earlier than the scholarship because they would take longer to get in via mail. The scholarship essay can be sent in via email so you would actually have more time to write it. The scholarship committee need spring break to read the essays as they can be tedious to read and judge.
We will keep your input in mind for next year’s conference.
